Vintage Therapy
If you love vintage fashion, but don’t have the time or energy to pound the pavements looking for treasures, have a look at these Etsy Australian vintage sellers.
movie still from Chances
As well as saving you time and energy, there are real bargains to be had here. I was just flipping through a 2006 Carters Guide – yes there’s a 2010 edition out now but I access mine through the local library and this is as advanced as they are – and a French themed shirt, similar to the one featured was valued at $60 – $80. Crystal brooches/pins with matching clip on earrings are valued at $65 – $85 while earrings alone should fetch $25-$35. A 70s cotton dress should set you back $55-$75. Not with these sellers. There are bargains to be had.
… in order of appearance 1. Sunshine in a Dress from Velvet Ribbons 2. Citrine and Topaz Rhinestone Brooch and Clip on Earrings from Jambo Chameleon 3. 60s Red Apron from Sago On Tuesdays 4. 50s Black Clip on Earrings from Ruby Tombstone 5. Brass Bangle from Paisley Path 6. Creesrist 50s Cotton Fabric from Voodoo Rabbit 7. Lemon Brunchcoat / Robe from Lace and Luxuries 8. 70s House of Mirrors at Versailles Shirt from The Uppity Woman 9. 80s Princess Di Derby style Hat from Lyndell
There’s the chance too to spice up your wardrobe by adding a vintage piece. Most of us don’t aspire to dressing completely in vintage, although I know I admire those who can manage this with style. But we can add one vintage piece to our modern ones to give an individual exciting look.

I love vintage looks especially the dresses and cardigans. Wish my mother would have keept some of her dresses, still I have one of her jacket in red and white linen, you would think it has been bought last month.
fantastic review.

These Dusters have a great eye for vintage so it’s worth checking out their shops every so often.
Want some vintage gossip – I believe a very interesting vintage store based here in Ballarat Victoria will be opening an etsy shop soon, I know they wont be able to resist being a member of Dust.

Well done on a fantastic feature Chrisy. I’ve always had a secret fetish for vintage. I love that yellow dress… I wish I could wear yellow. You’ve illustrated this post beautifully with the slide show and the ‘Chances’ movie still. Top job!

Lovely Chrisy, and very smart to make the comparison between the commercial collectable item and the Etsy alternative. It helps to highlight just what a fantastic style resource we have, without a yuppy price tag.

Great work Chrisy! Lovely items Dusters. My sisters and I had brunch coats like that yellow one but in scratchy nylon they had matching baby doll nighties with frilly bloomers as well. I’m :) feeling like a vintage gal ATM.

I like the little green hat…very tempting. Thank you for this post!
My mum gave me some of her clothes from the 50’s. I have no idea how she looked after these dresses and lingerie so well. I’ve stored them. But my clothes only last for a year or two!!!

Great picks!
I’m kinda addicted to collecting vintage nightgowns and dressing-gowns. I don’t think I’m allowed to buy any more for a while though – husband might hit the roof!
